1. Who we are and acceptance
These terms govern the use of MyChineseStory, a service of MyChineseStory.com (email: hello@mychinesestory.com). By creating an account, starting the free trial, taking out a plan or buying a story, you accept these terms and our privacy policy.
2. Your account
To buy anything you must be of legal age and provide accurate details. Your account is personal: don't share it and keep your password secret.
3. The service
We offer Chinese stories graded by level and topic, with pinyin, translation, audio and exercises, plus tracking of your vocabulary and progress.
With a plan you receive stories from the central library on the days you choose, at 8:00 am (local time, based on your account's time zone), and you can read the published stories at your level. Stories are created with the help of artificial intelligence and reviewed before they are published.
Progress estimates are indicative: learning depends on each person and we do not guarantee a specific result.
4. Free trial and plans
The free trial lasts 7 days, requires no card and can only be used once per person. When it ends, you will need to take out a paid plan to keep receiving stories; you will not be charged anything if you don't.
Plans differ in the number of stories per week and are paid monthly or yearly. Prices include VAT and are shown before you buy.
Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel it.
You can change your subscription preferences (pace, days, topics, translation language and billing) once every 7 days. If a change affects your plan, deliveries change straight away and the new price applies from your next renewal.
You can cancel at any time from your account (Payments and billing) or through Link. You keep access until the end of the period already paid and it will not renew.
5. Individual stories
You can buy library stories one at a time, without a subscription, at the price shown on each story (VAT included). Once bought, the story stays in your account for you to read whenever you like for as long as your account and the service remain active.
6. Payments and prices
Payments are made on Stripe's secure payment page. Stripe, through its Link service, acts as a reseller: it appears as the seller on the payment, the receipt and your bank statement (LINK.COM*), calculates and pays the taxes and emails you the receipts and invoices. If you pay from outside the euro area, Stripe may show you the price converted into your currency.
If we change our prices, we will tell you at least 30 days in advance and the change will apply at your next renewal; if you don't agree, you can cancel before then.
7. Right of withdrawal
If you are a consumer, you have 14 calendar days to withdraw from a distance contract without giving any reason.
Individual stories: they are digital content delivered immediately. When you buy one, you ask us to give you access straight away and accept that, once access has started, you lose the right of withdrawal.
Paid plans: you can withdraw within 14 days of taking out the plan. If you asked for the service to start immediately, we will refund you minus the proportional part of the service already provided.
To withdraw, write to hello@mychinesestory.com with your name, your account email and what you want to cancel. You can also ask Link (support.link.com).
8. Acceptable use
The content is for your personal learning. Sharing your account, copying, redistributing or selling the content, or extracting it automatically is not allowed.
We may suspend or close an account that seriously breaches these terms, giving notice first except in urgent cases.
9. Changes to the service and these terms
We may improve or change the service. If we make important changes to these terms, we will tell you in advance.
10. Closing your account
You can ask us to delete your account and your data by writing to hello@mychinesestory.com.
11. Complaints and governing law
If you have any problem, write to us at hello@mychinesestory.com and we will try to solve it. These terms are governed by Spanish law; if you are a consumer, you may bring proceedings before the courts of your place of residence.
12. Language
These terms are published in English, Spanish, French and German. If the versions differ, the English version prevails.
